"This Knife Kills The Patriarchy" is a genesis piece of "Death by 1000 Cuts" project. The artist uses repurposed metal foraged from an abandoned prison.

The artist uses the sewing skills she learned in prison while being forced to sew Russian uniforms into a skill she uses to amplify her own impact against against tyranny, harnessing her power.

“Death by 1000 Cuts” refers to an ancient method of torture in which numerous small cuts were made on a victim's body. None of the cuts were deadly by themselves, but the combination of them would cause the victim to die a slow, painful death. Similarly, every activist who raises a voice against an oppressive authoritarian system, causes it to bleed and to eventually die.

The artist, who was thrown in prison for her art and has to bear her criminal record for the rest of her life, is reclaiming the identity of a criminal, wearing it as a badge of honor, grabbing her agency back and standing up against oppressors.
