Notes

Amazing is a solvable maze constructed of tens of thousands of handwritten words.

The artist 'Handwritten Art' created this work as a metaphor to our existence which involves a maze of decision making and pathway finding. It comes out of a long held interest in puzzles which was ignited as a child by her grandmother where together they would while away the hours with puzzle books. The work is a tribute to these simpler times, a time when life required very little decision making and it was easy to be absorbed in the joy of a puzzle.

Handwritten Art is interested in eco-systems; in the role of an individual in a larger system. The use of handwriting exemplifies the important role of each character in the wider story. She explains that "working in black and white speaks to my love of contrast, polarity, and absolutes. I try to keep a minimal aesthetic to hold space for the viewer."
