Caroline Isgar is an artist known for her prints and artist's books publications. She studied postgaduate painting at the Slade School of Fine Art where she later held the position of Honorary Research Fellow in printmaking and instigated a writer and artist research programme, curating artist and writer collaborations. She has also worked as visiting artist on special projects in printmaking in the Royal Academy Schools and ran an image and text project at the Miro Foundation, Mallorca. She has collaborated on several artists’ books with the writer Michèle Roberts.Their book and art installation The Secret Staircase, a commission for the Foundling Museum, London, explored mother/child separation and was inspired by objects in the museum’s collection. Her collaboration with poet Richard Price, Head of Modern British Collections at the British Library, on the subject of sleep disorders, took the form of the artist's book Wake Up and Sleep. The text was a commission for the Society Of Medicine on sleep disorders. The book was launched at The Art Workers Guild. Her recent collaboration with Michèle Roberts, The Dark and Marvellous Room, was exhibited and launched at Tintype, London.
She has work in collections including the British Library, The Strang Print Collection, UCL, NHS LIFT, Hull and BT.
She has been a visiting lecturer for many years at Greenwich University, and Camberwell and Central St Martins, University of the Arts.
