The Spring Auction 2020 (21/83)

Notes

Parisian artist Alexandre Marciano creates a contemporary take on the cloud - a long time favourite subject for artists throughout history - an elusive and irresistible subject to capture.

Alexandre Marciano explains, "My painting is often the territory on which freedom and control oppose and contrast each other to build a small world that never represents reality, but is largely inspired by it."

Alexandre is inspired by light of JMW Turner, the gestural freedom of Cy Twombly and the lyrical abstraction of Zao Wou-Ki

For Alexandre an important part of the final result is the actual process of painting, "What matters to me more is the meditative and exhilarating nature of the act of painting."

Alexandre Marciano is also exhibiting Ballade sur le sentier in The Spring Auction.
