Notes
Klaus is Koming re-imagines and reworks classical poses and renaissance paintings in her bright and bold canvas paintings. In these images, women sprawl in luscious environments with female protagonists taking up space.
"My paintings show women who are rejecting purity, and instead explores the complexities of being a women. The bold colours signify the strength that can come from darkness. I have been using imagery from adult magazines for many years and have been interested in finding a balance of what is considered crude and what is seen as a ‘nude’.
Its all about exploring that tipping point. I have always liked to make work that’s fun and pertinent, taking themes and forms that are usually considered shameful or uncouth and making them empowering." - Klaus is Koming, 2020.
