Sunday Painting 5/21/23  is one in a series where Byron Kim makes a painting of the sky every week, starting in January 2001.

Byron Kim is a painter living in Brooklyn and San Diego. He is best known for Synecdoche, a painting of human skin color, and his series of Sunday Paintings, which depict the sky and include a journal entry on the day of making the painting. Kim was an artist in residence at UIC Gallery 400 and the School of Art & Art History in 1998. His UIC Gallery 400 participant-activated solo exhibition Deposit resulted from the residency
