UIC Gallery 400 40th anniversary
26 OCTOBER 2023 - 17 NOVEMBER 2023Notes
This piece is part of a larger work on paper series that involved a process of inserting and reinserting paper elements back into the sheet. It helped generate a synthesis between material exploration and constructing an abstract language between the formal and the personal.
Brian Kapernekas has been featured in solo exhibitions such as Through Grids and Frayed Fields (2022), and Lanterns through Marble Tides (2019). His work has been shown at 65GRAND in Chicago and Proof Gallery in Boston with the exhibit Cabin Fever in 2009. His group exhibitions include Around Flat at The Knockdown Center in New York (2015), and Loveland Pass at Grolle Pass Projects in Germany in 2011. Kapernekas is an Artadia: Fund for Art and Dialogue Grant awardee from 2004. His work has been highlighted in ArtSlant, the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, and New City.
