Young Russian Artists: The Rite of Spring
26 APRIL 2021 - 17 MAY 2021Notes
“I came across these balloons – I was envious that someone had set up such a beautiful installation solely for the purpose of destroying it. I wanted to pay tribute to the person for creating such art without considering it as art”. - Arseny Neskhodimov, 2021.
Arseny Neskhodimov was born in Samarkand, Uzbekistan in 1981. He now lives and works in Moscow. In 2003 he graduated from the Kemerovo Institute of Culture with a BA in Photography and Cinema. Since 2008, he's worked as a freelance portrait photographer.
He’s won several awards for his work, including the Welcome Photography Prize, Aesthetica Art Prize, Silver Camera Award, International Photography Award, and Annual Photography Award, among others. He focuses on issues including disillusionment and a sense of alienation among the generation born in the early 80s – often referred to as “Xennials” – who had an analog childhood and a digital adulthood.
