Young Russian Artists: The Rite of Spring
26 APRIL 2021 - 17 MAY 2021Notes
This work is a part of the photographic essay “Iniya: Evidence of One Life,” 2020. The entire series reflects on the themes of loneliness, unfulfilled hopes, and fear of losing love as the sole meaning of life. The threads of the idyllic perception of the Soviet world, the opposition of city and countryside, Muslim and Russian cultures, cruel fate, and an illusory hope for love pass through the documentation of objects abandoned by a person – the surrounding area, nature, home, and garden.
Zula Alieva (b. 1996) is a still-life and fashion photographer born in Kazan and based in Moscow and is a student at Moscow's HSE Art and Design School.
