Interested in the intersection of fantasy and the unconscious, Mady's work often plays with the power of the imagination to create and manipulate internal worlds. Sourcing visual and thematic influence from personal experience and intertwining that with collective mythology, Mady’s paintings evoke the feeling entering a moment in a larger narrative. In her world there are recurring characters and costumed figures which create a theatrical space drawing on her parallel path as a costume designer. At the core of her practice is a desire to make sense of her ever fluctuating mental landscape by creating an imaginative world which is imbued with symbolism, humour and curiosity.
