Notes
Tom Hegen takes ariel shots of salt beds in Australia to create abstracted forms in his photography. Sea salt is produced by filling evaporation ponds with seawater. Energy from the sun and wind concentrates the water to help encourage salt crystal formation. The colour of the water is affected by micro bacteria, which changes the water's hue when the salt concentration rises. Once ponds are completely dried out, a layer of salt of around 25 cm. in the pond is ready to harvest. After harvesting, the salt gets washed and ready for transportation.
Tom Hegen is a German aerial photographer. He focuses on aerial photography projects that show the impact of human presence on earth. As a photographer, he is interested in the relationship between man and nature. He aims to sensitise the viewer to those subjects by taking a look at the extraordinary forces impacting our environment.
