Notes

John Stark was born in 1979. His work is held in collections across the world and featured in numerous exhibitions at key galleries and museums, including the Saatchi Gallery.

Stark’s alcove paintings invite us into an illusory medieval world, laden with symbolic and mythological allusions. Subtle anachronisms upset our notions of time as we peer out through the frame, Stark’s medieval fortress window. Bony Tony is an alcove painting following in the tradition of memento mori.
