Terrence Higgins Trust, The Timed Auction 2021
18 FEBRUARY 2021 - 11 MARCH 2021Notes
Carrie Reichardt is a London-based contemporary artist and a part of the Craftivism movement, using murals, ceramics, screen-printing and graphic design in her work. Reichardt’s protest by deed visual activism including the Tiki Love Truck (2007), Trojan Horse (2011), a life size statue of suffragist Mary Bamber (2011) are now on permanent display at the Liverpool Museum and reflect the artist’s core concerns of systemic injustice, cruelty, and social activism. Reichardt has just finished the commission for a ceramic gateway feature installation at Finsbury Park station.
Extinction not inevitable – have hope is a unique hand-made slipcast ceramic spray can decorated with a vintage 1970’s ceramic transfer and silver lustre. The symbol represents extinction. The circle signifies the planet while the hourglass serves as a warning that time is rapidly running out for many species. This symbol has been reproduced with permission – not normally granted for fundraising.
