Melissa Hartley paintings are a multilayered compositions of expressive paint marks and structured geometric shapes.

Often using photographs as her starting point, Melissa is interested in the multiple effects of translucent layers of paint. Using colour to direct the eye and evoke sensations, she describes her work as 'bold yet ethereal'.

 

Accolades
Melissa graduated in 2019 with a BA Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, and a Foundation Diploma from Leeds College of Art. Exhibitions include Vibrancy, Brownsword Hepworth, London, 2019, Trivadi X Curaty, London, 2019. Melissa has been Shortlisted for ACS Studio Prize 2019 and the HIX Award 2019.
