Notes
Mariah Robertson is a photographer often working without a camera, rather she creates images through ceaseless darkroom experimentation.
Through this open approach, a roll of metallic film accidentally exposed in her studio led to a series of large-scale works. Without knowing exactly what outcomes her hand-applied colour chemicals will cause, she balances this lack of control with her mastery of the material. Her willingness to push the boundaries of photography allows her a freedom not often found within the field.
Recent shows in 2018 include Fun Packed Holiday at Lora Reynolds Gallery in Austin, Texas, The Hydra at M+B in Los Angeles and in 2017 Chaos Power Center at 11R, New York. This work was exhibited in Nudes Still Lives And Landscapes, Guild and Greyshkul, New York in 2007 and Out Of Focus: Photography, Saatchi Gallery in 2012.
