Aleph Contemporary for AccessArt
19 NOVEMBER 2021 - 17 DECEMBER 2021Notes
My abstract language tends to be aqueous and ariel. These two gouaches, inspired by water reflections, were made at my studio in Hoxton, London. My passion has always been the natural world. My abstract paintings are akin to the Northern Romantic tradition, where human psychology, and an expression of personal feelings and longings used landscape as a vehicle to communicate what it is to be alive.
After an early career as a shoe designer, I studied painting for five years - BA (Hons) equivalent at Byam Shaw School of Art, (UAL). Taken part in over 150 groupexhibitions and 25 solo shows in the UK and abroad, including: Tate Britain, Royal Academy Summer. Exhibitions, Royal College of Art, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Vertigo Gallery, Flowers East and Central, Bloomberg Space, South London Gallery, Connaught Brown, Groucho Club and House of St Barnabas. Abroad: Venice Biennale, Siena Art Institute, Italy, Vertigo Gallery, Milan, Italy, Atelier Gallery, Gaucin, Spain, Galerie Ulrich Grimm, Magdeburg, Forum Galerie, Usingen, Germany, Chelsea Hotel, New York, Brooklyn Art Library, New York, Austin Museum of Art, Texas, USA, Chateau de Bangkok, The Mandalai, Koh Phanghan, Thailand and Gallery Seven, Hong Kong.
