04 NOVEMBER 2023 - 25 NOVEMBER 2023Notes
This set of four exploratory watercolour paintings are deliberately left untitled. They are part of a larger series. Kelly is interested in the interaction between artist and viewer, leaving space for the imagination. He works intuitively allowing the paint to have its own voice, creating echoes of landscape and form.
Finbar Kelly studied at The University of Ulster, Belfast and Goldsmiths College, London.
Solo exhibitions have included Broadstone XL, Dublin (2007); The Butler Gallery, Kilkenny (1994); Galerie Eric Dupont, Toulouse (1992); Guinness Storehouse, Dublin (1990) and The City Gallery, Limerick (1990). Group exhibitions include 'We're Not Really Here', Project Arts Centre, Dublin (2001); The Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin (1992, 1990); EVA International, Limerick (1994, 1989) and Irish Exhibition of Living Art (1989).
His work is included in the collection of The Irish Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon.
In 1992 Kelly collaborated with Peter Gabriel in his Art for Us project, creating “Love To Be Loved” in response to a track written for the album https://petergabriel.com/focus/art-for-us/.
