Art for Ukraine (64/81)

Notes

Shashthi is a Hindu goddess, venerated as the benefactor and protector of children [...] This painting is my tribute to the mothers protecting their children and to the women giving birth during the war in Ukraine.’ – Aleksandra Szczodry

Aleksandra Szczodry’s work explores the spiritual condition of women and their being in the modern world. For Szczodry painting is a quasi-spiritual practice that enhances her own personal inner development. Her work often centres on powerful female archetypes with the hope to awaken the ‘wild woman’ in each of us and to remind us that we are all part of nature.

Aleksandra Szczodry is a Polish visual artist primarily working in painting, graphics and design. In the years 2018-2020 she managed and curated the exhibition programme at Gallery 18A, Warsaw. In 2019, Szczodry achieved a PhD in Art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Her works have been presented throughout Europe, including: Zbrojownia Sztuki in Gdańsk, Gallery of Saint-Luc, Liège in Belgium and Galeria Salon Akademia in Warsaw.
