About
For the past six years I have led the life that I planned for myself at the age of six or seven. I taught in secondary schools for twenty-five years, not part of the plan, but a surprisingly wonderful experience, considering how much hated my school days! more than fifty years after its conception my original plan came together, I was ready to be an artist. I am having the time of my life!

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
All four works have been translated from little sketch books I use outside. Using these brief notes to make drawings or paintings in the studio means using working largely from the feeling of both place and sketch so the finished piece is an amalgamation.
The "Coming Home" drawing is from a couple of drawings near home in Freuchie, I really enjoy the lumps and bumps of fields and I loved the silhouettes of the cows.
"Tree, Glasgow Street" It felt that the tree dominated these big, solid tenements. it seems that there isn't the means to manage or contain trees in the city anymore maybe that's a good thing.
"Single Tree" is from a collection of sketches made at Gartmore, in Stirling. I'm fond of drawing trees, looking at our organisation of the landscape through their branches.
"Tree, Torchlight" is from a very old sketch, I don't know where it was made. I chose to revisit this because it is a bit of mystery, the weird light gives the tree a threatening feel.
You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardise the charitable work we do.
