Art on a Postcard Winter Auction, Lots 101-200
04 NOVEMBER 2021 - 25 NOVEMBER 2021Notes
About
A recurrent theme and starting point in Jason Gibilaro’s recent work, has been memories both recent and not so recent that have left a visual impact. This usually represents imagery around a passing moment in a particular place and time. Some of the work has included the use of iconic imagery. Other work follows a social documentary scene with a snapshot of people in a particular place and moment in time, frequently at social events and gatherings. This has included elements of the art scene captured amongst artists and friends.
All the pieces in the series are worked on concurrently. This allows each piece to breathe and develop at its own pace. Resting the work allows reflection, knowing when the work is complete. It is never clear how the final piece is going to resonate from the initial concept. This is always an inspiration that contributes strongly to the creative process.
