About
Katharina Renneisen (*1978) is a German visual artist who uses analogue photography as her main medium. In her work, she focusses on classical subjects like the nude, the landscape, or the still life. Many of her silver gelatin prints are hand-coloured with oil paints, thus challenging the boundary between photography and painting.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
The submitted works are part of my occupation with the female nude. My images either concentrate on the form of the body itself or integrate it into more complex compositions involving furniture and textiles. The photographs are taken with an analogue large format camera in the studio. The application of oil paint on the silver gelatin prints allows for a more painterly depiction of the flesh.
