About
Matthew Cole is a painter based in New York City. His paintings are amalgamations of real life, as well as fantasy. He uses composite imagery to tell stories, while also representing the fragmented nature of the perception of memory and dreams. The outcome or finished result of his process often then evokes nostalgia, and alludes to a whimsical state.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
I've donated a small(er) version of a previous still life of mine, from my exhibition, Tokyo to Berlin. This version incorporates different colors and botanical elements than the previous. I like taking old drawings and paintings of mine and revisiting them, for it allows me to build upon old themes with new experience and context.
