Art on a Postcard x St Wilfrid's Hospice: The Postcards II
14 SEPTEMBER 2023 - 03 OCTOBER 2023Notes
About
Juliet E P Gibbs (b. 1996, Somerset) is an artist currently living and working in North West London. Gibbs' work focusses mainly on the contrast between the organic and the man-made. The work seeks to look at the direct impact humanity poses in relation to the world we live in, and how nature inevitably fights back. This age-old conflict creates an interesting 'push-and-pull' that we can all observe in the places we live, work and visit.

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
This work was made with play in mind. The process of monoprinting using screenprinting as a base is fast, furious and fun. It involves creating an image in one sitting, before the ink dries on the screen. The postcard was a small enough size to feel free with experimenting and so, my piece is slightly different to that of my usual work but isn't so far away that it doesn't still represent the vibrant natural world we live upon. The piece is a very small print of a section of orange tree I saw when travelling earlier this year. Trees that bear fruit, even when we do our absolute best as humans to destroy everything around us for profit and greed.
