Art UK, Timed Auction
13 SEPTEMBER 2021 - 30 SEPTEMBER 2021Notes
Helen Pritchard’s paintings are still lives that become landscapes, leading the viewer from fractured domestic details through layers in space, out and back again to the materiality of the object. Pritchard selects objects for their associations with experiences and memories, and uses their documentation, through layering, geometric editing and abstraction, to transcend the intangible and bring it back to the real.
Pritchard studied at the University of East London, and in 2009 she was awarded a scholarship at the Royal College of Art, graduating in MA Painting in 2011. She established an artist-lead studio and gallery P.O.S.T in South London, where she curates and participates in the exhibition programme.
