Introducing Corbin Shaw

Corbin Shaw (b. 1998) is a British artist based in East London, originally from Sheffield. Corbin has established himself as a prominent figure in the art world, exploring the complex realm of masculinity and identity through the medium of textiles. His unique approach to the iconic St George's Cross, a symbol deeply rooted in English culture, has garnered attention for its unconventional reinterpretation.

In many of his works, Corbin deftly hijacks British stereotypes by infusing textiles with text, resulting in thought-provoking pieces that challenge preconceived notions. Sometimes conveying messages of support and love, and at other times offering satirical commentary on the concept of the quintessential "Englishman," Corbin's finished artworks present a witty and captivating twist on the universally recognisable symbol such as the St George's Cross.
Paying homage to the people and places that have shaped his northern identity, such as the local pub, football and community, Corbin's art carries a powerful narrative that resonates with audiences far and wide.
