Fix (Bust) is a hand-painted reproduction of a page from a book on pioneering photographer Henry Fox Talbot. Whilst 'fixing' the photographic image to paper, Fox Talbot also mobilised the image as an infinitely reproducible entity. As a finite, unique object, the painting becomes a surface at which this mobilised image is re-fixed
With experimentations in 3D scanning and digital reproduction, Heygate's set about challenging the traditionally finite and unique status of what we consider artwork.
