Notes

Artwork Description
This series of paintings presents a cluster of layers separated by the passage of time and the randomness inherent in each of them. However, this apparent chaos is structured through repeated actions, geometric shapes, and overlapping brushstrokes. I act as a vigilant regulator of situations, not aiming to uncover something specific but rather to capture a sense of uncertainty. Each element appears as an error detached from another place evoked from memory and its confusion. The plastic material, lines, shapes, and structures embody reminiscences of a familiar universe: black ink, stains, gradients from graphic discards, unforeseen elements, and leftovers from a family printing press and the craft of drawing.

Bio
Martín Tisnés graduated in graphic design from ORT University Uruguay in 2004. In 2009, he pursued postgraduate studies in design at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). He also studied photography at the Foto Club Uruguayo and philosophy at the University of the Republic. Later, from 2010 to 2012, he attended Álvaro Amengual's workshop to delve deeper into drawing and painting. Since 2008, he has been exhibiting his work individually and collectively in Uruguay. Among his exhibitions, he was notably selected in 2013 for the Paul Cézanne Award at the National Museum of Visual Arts. Additionally, since 2016, he has been a lecturer for the Syntax and Visual Languages subject in the Bachelor of Visual Communication Design at the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Urbanism at the University of the Republic.
