Notes
Rosson Crow's characteristically large-scale, immersive and richly hued work is often based on historic references, both personal and collective in nature. Often including Modernist architectural triumphs, or places with mythic backstories, Crow’s diverse influences range from Los Angeles’s Koenig House to Fort Worth’s White Elephant Saloon. The artist’s canvases also frequently evoke the romance and nostalgia of a bygone era by pairing the masculine environments of rodeos, saloons, and trophy rooms with a lush, expressionistic style that often layers mediums such as acrylic, spray paint, oil and enamel.
Rosson Crow (b. 1982, Dallas, Texas) received an MFA from Yale University in 2006 and BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York in 2004. Solo exhibitions have been held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson; Honor Fraser, Los Angeles; Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth; Musée Régional d’Art Contemporain de Sérignan; Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Paris; Deitch Projects, New York and White Cube, London among other commercial galleries and institutions. Crow lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
