Hart School Art Auction
18 JUNE 2021 - 12 JULY 2021Notes
In the twilight was created in the summer of 2020 as part of a series of works made by the artist in response to the coronavirus lockdown. Finding herself stuck at home everyday, she began creating artworks that responded to her surroundings, and the repeated act of looking out towards the end of her garden. A solitary chair sits waiting for a sitter - a symbol of isolation - whilst beyond the dense flurry of vegetation small chinks of light hint at other human life. Painted with acrylic paint on a hard-board surface, the marks of paint reveal the movement of the paint brush and the hand of the maker herself, colours merging into one another as in the magical and fleeting moments of twilight.
