Help Ukraine: Without Reserve

New Hope consists of 4 circular grids printed either horizontally or vertically. Over these I have printed “misaligned “ grids to produce a strong effect of visual vibration. I often work with the primary colours and lime green is a also a particular favourite. 

Richard Peacock is an artist working with screen print and woodcut. His imagery combines elements of geometrical abstraction and pop art. In his screen prints the image is constructed using the building blocks of colour, shape, rhythm and pattern. The negative space between the elements is often an important part of the composition. His work using overlapping blocks of parallel lines, such as New Hope, have a strong optical element.

A key element of “handmade” work is that images are never perfect – there are imperfections and random elements in Peacock’s work and unexpected colours are sometimes discovered as the result of two or more layers of ink. For example, in Family Tree and New Hope, the spacing between the parallel lines is inconsistent, adding an element of light and shade.
