This canvas was painted for the single, 'You Get What You’re Given' - taken from Kid Acne's current LP HAVE A WORD.
This unique typographic style is now synonymous with Kid Acne’s visual output. Early examples of his nuanced lettering can be be found in the DIY fanzines, record sleeves and gig posters he created as a teenager throughout the 90’s. It has since evolved into larger than life hand-painted slogan murals, adorning whole building facades from Gateshead to Venice Beach.
The album is a transatlantic collaboration with Chicago-based producer, Spectacular Diagnostics and features guest emcees Juga-Naut, Juice Aleem and New Kingdom.
"He's halfway between Nigel Blackwell on Half Man Half Biscuit's 'Some Call it Godcore' and his own vision of 'Council House Boys' of Kendrick Lamar with Kendal Mint Cake" - The Wire, 2019.
A stalwart of the international Street Art movement, Kid Acne has painted large-scale murals across continents and exhibited extensively over the past two decades. His art explores a variety of themes, from colloquialisms and typography, to mythology and architecture.
