Naomi Larh is a visual artist and milliner. She is interested in pop surrealism, mythology and play. Her work is concerned with the transformation of trauma and reconnection to nature, through glitch and repetition, and the relationship between physical, imagined and digital spaces. Weightless, swimming headless figures are multiplied and projected between haptic or tactile screens; coemerging and dissipating in fractal clouds of copied surfaces. Informed by her varied travels, time spent living in China and Japan, and her background in costume making and festivals, her millinery practice is an extension of this. Her hats bring performative elements of mythology, folklore and avatar culture into wearable comfort and fantasy. Hats serve as a halfway space to the outside, an armour to obscure anxiety and agoraphobia.
Larh is a recent graduate of UWE Bristol, Recent exhibitions include Dancing with Demons at Colston Hall, Call to Arms at the Crypt, Bristol, Life on Venus at the Tub, Hackney, As Above So Below at The Steamship PS, London.
