About
Cece Philips is a self-taught visual artist based in London drawn to large scale figurative works. Following a degree in History, Philips did a short course in Florence before spending two years in the advertising industry, leaving her job to pursue painting full time in Summer 2020. She had her debut solo exhibition, I See in Colour at HOME by Ronan McKenzie in April 2021 and has since exhibited at The Other Art Fair July 2021, Top 100 by The Auction Collective June 2021 and is currently working towards several group shows and her first international solo show at Post Gallery, Zurich in November 2021. Philips will also be starting a Fine Art MA at Camberwell this September.

‘The Thinker’ is one of a series which explores the relationships between women, power, and history. Inspired by found historical materials, the women represented are imagined and invite the viewer to create their own narratives around who the figures are and what is captured between them in that particular moment in time.
