Shen Wei was born in Shanghai and is now based in New York City. He is known for his intimate portraits of others and himself, as well as his poetic landscape and still-life photography. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in the permanent collection of amongst other the Museum of Modern Art, New York.  

This photograph is from the series ‘Between Blossoms’. Wei says the piece is: “inspired by the dreams of the unknown and by the mysteries that fascinate me. I find these fantasies hinted at in reality surrounding me; a touch of melodrama here, a hint of seduction there, that enhance every day with an elusive, enchanting beauty.”
