Terrence Higgins Trust - 2022, Timed Auction

Christy Lee Rogers is a visual artist from Kailua, Hawaii. Her obsession with water as a medium forbreaking the conventions of contemporary photography has led to her work being compared to Baroque painting masters like Caravaggio. Rogers applies her technique to entangled bodies submerged in water at night, using the refraction of light while building elaborate scenes of coalesced colours and bodies that capture the vigour and warmth of human character as well the beauty and vulnerability of the human condition.

She has exhibited widely and her works are held in private and public collections throughout. Rogers' art has been featured on several album covers, including ‘Orchesography’ for the 80’s band Wang Chung. She won the 2019 Open Photographer of the Year and in in 2020 she created the cover image for the 2021 Lavazza Calendar ‘The New Humanity.’

She Walks In Beauty, Like The Night is an archival photograph taken from Rogers’ Odyssey Collection. Like Bryon’s short lyrical poem of the same title, both pieces deal with instant attraction and use the contrast between light and dark, day and night, to evoke the beauty of the subject.
