THE ART PARTY - Timed Auction
12 APRIL 2023 - 27 APRIL 2023Notes
Emiliana's upbringing in a multicultural environment amidst the chaos of East Los Angeles has heavily influenced her artistic vision. Despite her family's struggles to keep her and her brother safe from gang violence in their predominantly latin neighborhood, Emiliana found solace in music and art, shaping her creative approach.
Her art reflects a fascination with the emotional connections that unite people across cultural differences. Through elements of mythology and unpredictability, Emiliana's work creates dreamlike landscapes that invite introspection and self-acceptance.
Emiliana's art focuses on the experiences of women of color, and she isn't afraid to incorporate her own vulnerabilities into her pieces. Inspired by both classical and modern figurative artists such as Rembrandt, Goya, Odd Nerdrum, Jordan Casteel, and Lisa Yuskavage, her pieces have a unique emotional depth conveyed through bold color palettes such as lime green and deep red.
Emiliana's work has been exhibited at prominent galleries in Los Angeles, including Charlie James Gallery and the Nomadic Superposition Gallery hosted by Phillips Auction House. She will be awarded by The In the Paint program created by the Los Angeles Lakers, a residency at the Macedonia institute in June of 2023 as well as her upcoming solo exhibitions in the fall of 2023 at the Fortnight Institute in New York City and Samuele Visentin in London, UK, marks significant milestones in her artistic career.
Emiliana's art is a testament to her personal journey and the universal human experiences that connect us all, transcending cultural differences and bringing us closer together.
Emiliana continues to live and work in Los Angeles.
