Notes

The golden light of dawn on a misty morning transforms an ordinary scene under a bridge in Northhampton.

Andy Feltham describes this as "a moment of fleeting magic as the sun burnt through the morning fog ... seconds later this light play was gone."

A45 is part of a series of work called Incidental View. In this body of work, the artist re-examines commonplace scenes and moments to imbue them with the extraordinary. He describes it as "confronting and questioning the monotonous. Each piece aims to celebrate the incongruous marriage of perceived isolation with an overriding sense of wonderment."

Olha Stepanian's photography draws on the aesthetic of fashion photography and of Dada and Surrealist photography, like that of Man Ray and Claude Cahun. Her crisp black and white work are striking in their simplicity and bold in their composition and overall design. This comes from a process of sketching out her ideas before a photoshot.   “Every photograph is a separate story. I look for props and costumes among friends, though it’s easy to find clothes in thrift shops and alter them to fit the model (here my seamstress training comes in handy). I love details, and it is these details that sometimes give birth to an interesting storyline."
