Notes

Cheapside Market, Barbados provides the vibrant scene for this painting.

Chiara Elisa Ragghianti recalls a walk though the market in Bridgetown with its bright lights, fresh fruit, and its aromatic herbs and spices. The artist aims to capture some sense of being in the market and of the people that populate it. Painted from her home country of Italy, this is a memory reduced to a few powerful colours and reminiscences.

Chiara's paintings look for the moment where the imagination meets reality. Her studies in the History of Film seep into her paintings where she depicts mundane moments of life but often crops them or intensifies the colour to create something more cinematic.
