A painting of France drawn-out from memory, Hannah Forward's France is a vivid recreation of a swelteringly hot summer's drive through France.

Hannah places particular emphasis on capturing the orange-pink hues of the setting sun just beyond the horizon of the painting. Inspired by film and photography, Hannah prefers to apply her paint directly onto an unprimed wood board to reveal more of the relationship between medium and support - something she considers more personal, "like a treasured memory of a place once visited."
