Notes

Marc Atkins captures the beauty and perplexity of water towers in crisp definition.

"I’ve always been captivated by water towers and pylons, they are like alien constructs, Ballardian fabrications, structures not quite graspable". The water towers are suffused in the golden glow of the setting or rising sun, casting intense shadows across their smooth concrete surface. It is a familiar sight, but not often captured with such dignity and beauty as in Marc's photographs.

Characteristic of Marc's work are scenes that appear both elegant and desolate. Marc sites the redolence of a room, a remote landscape, or the multi layering of the city as his chosen subjects.

Marc's work has led him to travel widely and spend extended periods of time in Rome, Detroit, New York, Warsaw and Paris.

Olha Stepanian's photography draws on the aesthetic of fashion photography and of Dada and Surrealist photography, like that of Man Ray and Claude Cahun. Her crisp black and white work are striking in their simplicity and bold in their composition and overall design. This comes from a process of sketching out her ideas before a photoshot.   “Every photograph is a separate story. I look for props and costumes among friends, though it’s easy to find clothes in thrift shops and alter them to fit the model (here my seamstress training comes in handy). I love details, and it is these details that sometimes give birth to an interesting storyline." Accolades   Sumy College of Textile Design, Kyiv, Ukraine Awards: Finalist for the Kuala Lumpur International Photo Awards 2017. Second Prize at the Montreal Nude Photography Competition. Solo Exhibitions: À la Recherche du Temps Perdu, Triptych: Global Arts Workshop, Kiev 2019.   Group Exhibitions: Bavarian Cultural Festival of Arts, Munich.   Olha Stepanian is represented by Recreational Enterprises & Perseus Gallery, New York.
