Notes

A digitally re-imagined poolside scene by Charlotte Taylor.

Morning Pool exudes the cool calm of a retro pool house. An undefined place, temporally and geographically, Charlotte Taylor's work is as much about architecture as it is about design and colour. The pastel tones are subtly layered to create architectural structures and geometric forms.

The artists uses real and imagined spaces in her playful architectural drawings. Stairways, arches and the occasional terrazzo floor are cut out, layered and combined digitally to form dreamlike interiors. There are tropes of modern, post modern and traditional architecture in her work. Whilst her coral and pink colour palette create a dated, yet contemporary, feel.

The Paris-based artist and designer describes her approach as a combination of "fine art practice and design process". Her digital drawings of interiors and architecture are an extension of her practice of creating large-scale installations.

Charlotte says of her work, "I have a long-standing obsession with architecture, interiors and design objects. I am interested in non-functional structures. I collect visual material from interior and design magazines combined with my personal photography; the spaces I imagine become an amalgamation of different architectural styles, drawing much inspiration from postmodernism, brutalism, and ancient architecture."
