Notes
Brighton-based painter, Aimie Herbert is truly a worldwide artist. With residencies in the U.K, China and Sweden, Aimie has absorbed a plethora of cultures and artistic practices.
This work was borne out of her time in Sweden, which breathed new life into her painting, particularly with regards to her colour palette and her understanding of the relationships they have with each other.
Aimie's work currently explores the relationship between the affective embrace of the world we see and our continuous stream of consciousness. Themes of memory, colour, excitement, movement, cognitive process and repetition. This is a direct response to us as human's fairly recent ability to access different climates and surroundings so quickly, making sensory experiences in an instant.
