Snowdrops was painted during quarantine in the spring of 2020 in Tbilisi.
“I spent half of the year in Georgia and painted portraits of seasonal Georgian flowers and landscapes.” - Sasha Pasternak, 2020.
This painting is part of a polyptych of four paintings called “Primavera” featuring Tulips; Helleborus; Narcissuses; Snowdrops.
The other works from this series are in private collections.
Sasha Pasternak is a Moscow-based painter. “I paint things that surround me – my environment. The views from apartments I’ve lived in, plants I’ve grown and watched growing, landscapes I’ve admired while I’ve been traveling in different countries. My aim is to depict the memories, dreams, and wishes of my life. The most inspirational things for me are colours, light, and geometry of forms. The subjects of my paintings are mostly landscapes, architecture, and plants. The favoured technique is oil on canvas. Sometimes I use watercolor to make sketches. I like to simplify reality in my painting and erase unnecessary details. The most important visual thing for me in my art is to create a harmony of colours and shapes.”
