Art Auction - Arms Around the Child, Timed
24 OCTOBER 2022 - 13 NOVEMBER 2022Notes
On a Thursday evening, moments before the clap for carers chorus begins, a rainbow
stretches across the sky in Stamford Hill as if in solidarity for those on the frontline of the
pandemic. This photograph has been acquired for the permanent collection of The Museum
of London.
This photograph is part of a larger series documenting the volunteer support networks
in Hackney during the pandemic. Grey Hutton was awarded the National Geographic
Covid-19 Grant to continue this photographic work and it has been published and exhibited
widely, including on the Queen’s Christmas Broadcast in 2020 and the Piccadilly Lights.
Grey Hutton is a freelance photographer based in London. He studied photography at
London College of Communication before moving to Berlin, where from 2012 - 2018 he was
the photo editor and staff photographer of VICE Germany. His work has been published and
exhibited internationally, and he is a regular contributor to The Times and The Guardian.
