Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork
These paintings loosely reference the 1947 film ' Lady from Shanghai' by Orson Welles, a noir psychodrama which portrays a femme fatale and her various relationship breakdowns. It presents an observation of trauma in the aftermath of the world wars. The works seek to critique the presentation of female mental illness and trauma.
