Notes

About

Jacky is an artist and maker that has created pieces for exhibitions, commissions and residencies ranging in scale from small handheld objects through to large-scale architectural pieces, throughout the UK. Each project is completely unique, drawing from a range of metalwork techniques and processes, including jewellery, silversmithing, blacksmithing techniques.  This breadth allows her approach to respond sensitively to the variety of subjects that inspire each bespoke piece.

Jacky’s work brings together narratives from a range of sources, contemporary and historic. She researches ideas extensively including archive material, interviews and handwritten notes. Jacky has a broad and open approach to fluidly developing ideas.

The hands-on manipulation of materials, metal in particular, is something that she is passionate about. Scrutinising both form and surface, Jacky strives to bring the material to life, interrogating the qualities of different techniques and processes. Investigating how they can be combined to create artefacts, which stimulate viewers to consider and reflect. Using light and shadows in her work, allows the viewer to see beyond, a sometimes complex structure, to a simpler bolder message.
