About

Cordoban painter and musician, born on February 5, 1992. Graduated with degrees in composition and percussion from the “Rafael Orozco” Superior Conservatory of Music in Córdoba (Spain)

As a composer, he pursued studies under the guidance of the composer and “Queen Sofia CompositionPrize 2016” awardee Francisco Martín Quintero. He has completed commissions for soloists and ensembles, including “Life is the Great Whore of the Apocalypse” (Tribute to Leopoldo María Panero), premiered by the contemporary music ensemble “Nou Ensemble.”

As a percussionist, he has been a part of the Córdoba Symphony Orchestra, providing reinforcement in the percussion section for numerous seasonal concerts, extraordinary events, and operas.

Poetry is also a significant part of Carlos’s work, with a poetry collection titled: About Critiques, FreeJazz, and Some Poetry. Imagine thinking you’re not doing it right just because people said so.

In painting, which serves as the focal point of his current work, Carlos has spent years working in the studio as a visual artist. His illustrations and installations have been featured in performances with artists from other disciplines such as drama or music, showcasing a deep interest in the concept of multidisciplinarity in art.

His paintings are exhibit in private collections from Los Angeles to New York in the USA, to France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Malaysia...

Statement about AOAP Submitted Artwork

In these small postcard-sized pieces, I have attempted to reflect part of my artistic work, continuing with the theme of hidden characters, and two more pieces in which I speak about themes of loneliness and the need for a change in society towards a more feminist and inclusive society

All pieces are mostly painted with oil, but I also use other materials such as acrylic and spray paint.

The hidden characters theme is one I've been painting for years, and some pieces from those series are already in private collections and have been exhibited in many galleries. In recent years, in my painting, female figures have evolved from mere acts of beauty to taking a position of power and empowerment, as seen in the painting 'I'ma survivor'. Lastly, loneliness, a theme widely explored in my previous paintings, is reflected in that yellow character, motionless, in the middle of nowhere, perhaps waiting for something or someone, or simply taking a moment in the hectic life of 21st-century humans to stop and reflect.

You must not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell or exploit any works. In doing so, you endanger our relationships with artists, and directly jeopardise the charitable work we do.
