Notes

The ‘Useless Loop’ series by the aerial photographer Tommy Clarke was captured over Western Australia's Useless Loop salt mine in 2016.

As with his 2014 Salt Series over Utah and San Francisco, Tommy took to the skies to capture the perfect composition of these remarkable salt lakes. The bright, bold colours of the lakes gleaming against the Australian sun create an abstract composition so striking it is hard to believe this is the result of naturally evaporating salt lakes.

As with the Salt Series, the vibrant colours and the photograph’s unique view point, leave no need for any retouching or manipulation – the image remains as it is, a snapshot of the incredible landscape.
