Within Reach considers the momentary act of painting and how the present moment is so fleeting that it is never within reach but only be made sense of after an event. The arcs represent the full arm span of the artist, inviting a reading of the physicality of the painting process and the necessary balance and poise it requires. The paintings are paired in dialogue where the artist’s painterly energy continues from one canvas to the next and the strong composition allows for a stark comparison between painted gestural and areas of ‘inactive’ flat colour.
