Timed Auction
Notes
Peter Jones is best known for his paintings of found vintage soft-toys which play with both Still-Life and traditional Portraiture. Previous appearances at The Auction included paintings of a Poodle and a Bunny, but this year Peter returns to his signature subject which is the Monkey.
Putting Love into Glove, Monkey portrays a Steiff toy which has lost an eye in the confusion of the studio. Glove puppets imply drama, theatre, mystery, but rely on the invisible presence of a helping hand to conjure consciousness.
